The Challenge: Scaling Compliance Across a Diverse Client Base

Fund services firms like OIG face a structural challenge: they manage investor onboarding and ongoing compliance on behalf of multiple asset managers, each with different requirements, entity types, and distribution models. Delivering a consistent, auditable investor experience across that breadth of relationships is operationally complex and difficult to scale when processes are manual or fragmented.

For OIG, the priority was building an onboarding and lifecycle framework that could be standardised across their asset management client base while retaining the flexibility for individual Asset Managers to operate under their own branded environments.

The Solution: The LAB Platform

LAB Group has begun implementing the LAB platform across OIG's asset management client base, covering three core capabilities.

LAB Engage digitises the investor application and onboarding journey across all entity types, including individuals, companies, trusts, SMSFs, and more. Dynamic, adaptive forms with embedded risk assessment ensure the right data is captured upfront, reducing back-office handling and manual follow-up. Beyond initial onboarding, LAB Engage is also being used for Additional Investment Application workflows and KYC Refresh engagements, extending the standardised digital experience across the full investor lifecycle for OIG's asset management client base.

LAB Verify automates KYC/AML verification through a multi-source identity and screening engine, delivering fast, auditable outcomes aligned to FSC guidelines. Biometric verification, document checks, PEP and sanctions screening, and adverse media monitoring are orchestrated through a single integration.

LAB Portal provides OIG's operations and compliance teams with a centralised hub to manage cases, track investor onboarding progress, resolve exceptions, and maintain a complete audit trail across all investor interactions.

The solution is deployed to OIG as a SaaS, with the flexibility for each Asset Manager to operate under a branded environment, including segregated Asset Manager operations user access to LAB Portal.

A Phased Rollout Built for Scale

The implementation follows a phased approach, beginning with an initial Asset Manager to validate the framework before expanding across OIG's broader client base. Future phases will cover deeper integration with core registry systems and automated lifecycle workflows, including additional investments, redemptions, periodic reviews, and remediation.
